No shortage of budgetary funds and financial threat to national security in Armenia

YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. There is no shortage of budgetary funds and a financial threat to national security in Armenia, Deputy Finance Minister Armen Hayrapetyan said Wednesday at an extraordinary parliamentary meeting answering an MP’s question that the authorities are spending reserve funds in a difficult situation, and thereby pose a threat to national security.

He noted that the authorities conduct consistent research and assessments of the development situation of the coronavirus and the crisis associated with it in all scenarios in order to understand to what extent the financial stability is ensured.

"If we see risks, we will take steps. However, even today, in conditions of fiscal instability and lack of budgetary funds, there is no such threat," Hayrapetyan said.

A state of emergency was declared in Armenia on March 16, 2020 to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and then extended three times. The latest decision, dated from June 12, extends the state of emergency until 17:00 July 13.

According to the latest official report issued Wednesday morning, 21,717 confirmed COVID-19 infection cases, 10,797 recovery cases and 386 deaths have been recorded in Armenia. -0----
