Armenia's 2021 draft budget earmarks 215 billion drams as capital expenditure

YEREVAN, November 17. /ARKA/. Armenia's draft 2021 state budget earmarks 215 billion drams or 3.2% of GDP as capital expenditure, Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan said on Tuesday.

In addition, according to him, more than 81 billion drams are earmarked in a separate article, as in 2020 budget.

He said it is expected that during the year, in parallel with the growth of opportunities for economic entities, the government will be able to help increase the potential for economic growth.

He added that spending on health will grow by 2.1%, education, culture, sports by 1.2% and social sphere by 2.2%.

“It is planned to increase the average pension, promote the demography by increasing benefits for the birth of a child, child care and assist families in solving housing problems,” Janjughazyan said.

He also noted that the 2021 budget provides for an increase in the salaries of teachers, security officials, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the rescue service, and foresters. It also provides for the solution of housing problems in the 1988 earthquake zone.

The draft state budget for 2021 calls for 1 trillion 569.06 billion drams in revenue and 1 trillion 843.1 billion drams in spending. The projected budget deficit is f 274 billion drams (4.1% of GDP).
