Central bank predicts 8.4-8.5% inflation for 2021

YEREVAN, December 14. /ARKA/. Armenia’s 12-month inflation at the end of 2021 will be 8.4-8.5%. Chairman of Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan said at a press conference today.

"Given the substantial increase in inflationary influences from the external sector, as well as the growing  inflation expectations, the Central Bank  has decided today to raise the refinancing rate by 0.5% to 7.75%,’ Galstayn said

He said under these conditions, it is projected that the 12-month inflation will gradually decline and consolidate around the 4% target in the projected medium-term period.

Armenia’s consumer prices in October 2021 were up 9.6% compared to October 2020, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC). Prices in 2021 November were up 1.7% compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, during January-November 2021 prices increased by 7.1% against the same period of 2020. -0-
