Armenia and Russia negotiating export settlements in Armenian drams

YEREVAN, March 23. /ARKA/. Armenia's Ministry of Economy and Central Bank are negotiating now with Russian partners  payments in Armenian drams for Armenian exports  to Russia, Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan said in parliament today.

"Today, most exporters see a big risk in payments for exports in Russian rubles. Today we, the Central Bank of Armenia, our Russian colleagues and the Central Bank of Russia are working to conclude a ruble-dram swap agreement, as a result of which Armenian exporters will be able to set the prices for their goods in Armenian drams and sell them in drams, which is a more comprehensible currency for us and will help  reduce risks," he said.

Earlier, Kerobyan said that Armenian exporters suffered because of a sharp drop in the value of the Russian ruble against US dollars and euros.

According to the Central Bank of Armenia, one Russian ruble is trading today at 4.68 drams. In Russia, the official US dollar exchange rate is 104.07 rubles, while the euro is  114.78 rubles. The Russian ruble began losing its value following the Russian military operation in Ukraine. --0--
