YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/. At the end of February, 2022 the volume of deposits placed in Armenian commercial banks stood at about 4.06 trillion drams, up from 4 trillion drams in late January, the National Statistical Committee said.

In February the volume of deposits placed by non-residents totaled 871.4 million drams, down from 897.4 mlllion in January. The volume of deposits placed by residents stood at about 3.18 trillion drams, up from 3.13 trillion in January.

Demand deposits in drams placed by residents stood at 668.9 billion drams, while time deposits stood at 1.16 trillion drams.

Out of foreign currency deposits worth over 1.35 trillion drams, some 520.3 billion drams were demand deposits and 833.1 billion drams were time deposits.

At the end of February 2022, the balance of deposits placed by citizens of Armenia totaled 1.930 trillion drams exceeding by 32.601 billion or 1.7% the balance of the previous month and by 227.367 billion or 16.4% the balance of the same period in 2021.

In February, 2022 the average interest rate on deposits in Armenian commercial banks was 8.54% (8.39% in January). -0-
