Total lending of Armenian banks dropps in late June to over 3.9 trillion drams

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARKA/. The total lending of 17 Armenia-based commercial banks at the end of June 2022 stood at more than 3.9 trillion drams, down from 4.03 trillion drams in late May, according to the numbers, released today by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

The amount of deferred loans stood at 188.5 billion drams (4.79% of the total) against 192.5 billion drams in late May. The amount of overdue loans in late June stood at about 14.6 billion drams (0.37% of the total) against about 17.7 billion drams in late May.

The amount f loans issued in foreign currency at the end of June amounted to the equivalent of about 1.45 trillion drams (36.84% of the total) against about 1.59 trillion drams in late May, while the amount of loans in Armenian drams stood at about 2.28 trillion (58.01%) against about 2.23 trillion in late May.

The amount of loans issued by banks to non-residents at the end of June totaled about 210.4 trillion drams against 213.7 trillion drams in late May, while the volume of loans issued to residents totaled about 3.78 trillion drams against about 3.87 trillion drams in late May.

The volume of dram loans issued to residents amounted to about 2.31 trillion against 2.26 trillion drams in May, and the volume of foreign currency loans – to the equivalent of about 1.47 trillion drams against about 1.62 trillion drams in May.

The volume of loans issued by credit organizations by the end of June exceeded 304 billion drams against about 329.9 billion drams in May.

At the same time non-residents were given loans of nearly 13 billion drams against about 12.8 billion drams in May, and the volume of credits given to residents stood at more than 291 billion rams against about 317.1 billion drams in May.

The volume of dram loans issued to residents amounted to 203.5 billion drams against 200.8 billion drams in May, and the volume of foreign currency loans amounted to the equivalent of 87.5 billion drams against 116.3 billion drams in May.

In June the rate on loans of commercial banks dropped to 11.27% from 11.54% in May. The rate on repo deals of the Central Bank was 9.25%. ($1 - 406.14 drams). -0-
