YEREVAN, September 16. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President of EBRD Odile Renaud-Basso discussed today in Yerevan ways to further cooperation between Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Armenian government press office reported.
It said Pashinyan stressed the importance of close and efficient cooperation between the government and EBRD, which results in numerous projects in various spheres.
Pashinyan said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of bilateral cooperation, which has been developing and strengthening over the past years.
According to the prime minister, this cooperation has also contributed to the stability of the Armenian economy, including during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Prime Minister, democratic reforms, including in the economy, are successfully implemented, as a result of which Armenia has risen to the 11th position in the world index of economic freedom. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that all this will contribute to economic activity and development of the country.
The EBRD President also expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Armenian government, adding that the implemented joint programs are constantly expanding.
Rene-Basso focused on the implementation of the projects in the areas of infrastructure development, road construction, private sector and other spheres and noted that the EBRD is ready to expand the bilateral cooperation.
The EBRD Office in Yerevan has been functioning since 1992. To date, the EBRD has invested more than €2 billion in 201 projects in Armenia, 91 percent of which are in private sector. --0-
