Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs discusses new cooperation formats with WB

YEREVAN, Oct. 3. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan received today representatives of the World Bank led by World Bank's Country Manager for Armenia Carolin Geginat.

The sides discussed a number of issues related to the new formats of cooperation in the area of labor and social protection. They also looked into projects that have been implemented and the ones that are to be implemented within the framework of the Second Social Protection Administration Project.

The sides also reviewed the already available results of this project. Summary information was presented about the already operating Unified Social Service centers, as well as those under construction.

The importance of creating the central office of the Unified Social Service, full implementation of the Unified Information System and consolidation of efforts towards the development of human capital was noted.

At the end of the meeting the sides expressed readiness to continue joint efforts for the continuous development of the labor and social protection spheres.

Since 1992 when Armenia joined the World Bank and IDA in 1993, the total commitments to Armenia amounted to over USD 2.5 billion. -0-
