Total state debt of Armenia in January-February exceeded $10.7 billion

YEREVAN, April 6. /ARKA/.  Armenia's total public debt stood at over $10.7 billion as of February 28, 2023, having grown by about $84.6 million from January 31, 2023, according to the numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

On December 31, 2022, the country's total public debt stood at over $10.6 billion. Calculated in Armenian drams, the overall public debt decreased by about 40 billion drams from late January 31 to about 4.2 trillion.

According to the NSC, of the total public debt over $6.3 billion were the external debt of the government, which dropped by about $108 million from late January 2023, while domestic debt in February 2023 was higher by $192.5 million growing to about $4.4 billion.

In Armenian drams the external debt decreased by 86.1 billion to about 2.5 trillion, while the domestic debt increased by 46.3 billion to over 1.7 trillion.

The government's external debt decreased by $97.2 million to a little over $5.8 billion as of late February 2023. In dram equivalent, the government's external debt decreased by over 78.1 billion to over 2.6 trillion.

The debt of the Central Bank decreased by about $10.8 million to $548.3 million.  In dram equivalent it dropped by 8 billion to 213.2 billion.

Of the domestic debt, about $1.5 billion (an increase of $40.2 million) were owed to resident holders of government bonds. - 0-
