YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. Armenia's total bank deposit portfolio grew to AMD 5 trillion 134 billion 447 million in April 2023, exceeding the highest historical figure recorded in December 2022, when the portfolio stood at  AMD 5 trillion 122 billion 579 million.

Compared to the same period of 2018, the portfolio more than doubled, according to Armenpress.

In April of the current year,  the  deposits at Armenia-based commercial banks increased by 31.21% from the same month in 2021.

The volume of deposits attracted by commercial banks were up  0.84% from March 2023.  The volume of resident deposits  in AMD decreased by 0,16%. The volume of resident deposits was recording a dynamic growth over the last 6 years reaching the maximum  in 2023 April- 3 trillion 821 billion 478 million drams.

The total loan portfolio of banks (but not credit organizations) in April 2023 set a new historical record - 4 trillion 409 billion 409 million drams, exceeding the previous historical record of March 2023 by 0.47%.

In April 2023, the volume of loans issued by lending institutions decreased compared to the same month in 2018-2022.

An increase of only 1.42% was recorded compared to the previous month of March. During the period under review, the volume of loans taken out by residents from  credit institutions increased by 1.73% compared to April of last year, while the volume of loans taken out by non-residents decreased by 5.75%. -0-
