Armenian Deputy Finance Minister discusses cooperation prospects with World Bank Vice President

YEREVAN, 16 July. /ARKA/. Armenian Deputy Finance Minister Eduard Hakobyan took part in the meeting of the IMF and WB Associate Group of Councils held in Chisinau, Moldova,  on 10-12 July. 

Hakobyan had a meeting with the World Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Antonella Bassani on the margins of the event, the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Finance reported.

It said the interlocutors discussed a set of issues in such areas as  water, energy, social sector, including budgetary support. 

Hakobyan also talked to Jasper Weseling, Chief Treasurer of the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands. A number of key issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed, in particular, the implementation of the ongoing programme on exchange of experience between the Ministries of Finance, as well as new perspectives of further cooperation.    

About WB programmes in Armenia

Since the launch of its operations in Armenia in 1992, the World Bank has provided the country with approximately $2.7 billion through the International Development Association (IDA, to which Armenia became a donor in 2023), the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and trust funds. The WB is currently financing 10 projects in Armenia with a total value of $500 million. 

The World Bank intends to continue to support Armenia's development towards poverty reduction and shared prosperity. -0-
