YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Implementation of projects by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Armenia was the focus of a Monday meeting between Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, EBRD Regional Director Elisabetta Falcetti, and George Akhalkatsi, head of the EBRD Armenian office. Deputy Minister Sevak Mikaelyan also participated in the meeting.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Papoyan highly appreciated the EBRD’s support for programs in key areas of Armenia’s economic development, noting the importance of their consistent implementation.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues on supporting the development of expert skills for the Armenian export diversification program, enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as the development of the capital market in Armenia.
The development of a 'green taxonomy' was also highlighted in the context of promoting sustainable investments, attracting capital, and supporting the growth of green projects in Armenia
In the context of investment opportunities and sustainable economic development, Minister Papoyan presented the “Crossroads of Peace” program, developed by the Government of Armenia, to the interlocutors. This program aims to foster a new era of peace and stability in the region, benefiting Armenia and its neighboring countries.
The EBRD is a leading institutional investor in Armenia, with investments totaling approximately €2.12 billion in 211 projects across the country to date. Of these investments, 92% have been directed towards the private sector. -0-
