Cashback - 15.2 billion drams: Armenian government extends programme for pensioners

YEREVAN, Jan. 9 /ARKA/. The Armenian government at a meeting on Thursday extended the cashback programme for pensioners and beneficiaries of government allowances for non-cash purchases until December 30, 2025.

Labour and Social Affairs Minister Narek Mkrtchyan said that in the 2.5 years since the launch of the programme, the volume of cashless payments amounted to 171.7 billion drams and 15.2 billion drams were returned to citizens. The number of beneficiaries amounted to 278 thousand people in November and it expected to exceed 300 thousand.

The Minister pointed out that the average amount of refund in November amounted to 4,190 drachmas. He also recalled that from September 2024, the amount of the refund has been increased from 10% to 12%, but it will not count towards utility payments.

The program has been in force since July 1, 2022. Pensioners and beneficiaries using cards of Armenian partner banks receive a cashback of 10% of the total amount spent in the previous month, but not more than 6,000 AMD per month, when making non-cash purchases in the next month.
