YEREVAN, December 4. / ARKA /. The amount of insurance money paid by seven Armenian insurance companies in the third quarter of 2012 surged by 74 percent compared with the previous quarter, to about 9.4 billion drams, the National Statistical Service of Armenia (ArmStat) told ARKA.
According to ArmStat, 6.3 billion drams were paid to motorists who have compulsory insurance policies, 2.6 billion drams more than in the previous quarter. Also 1.6 billion drams were paid to individuals who had private insurance policies, 2.3 times more than in the previous quarter, some one billion drams were paid to owners of property insurances (growth of 1.3 times), 254.1 million drams were paid to owners of liability insurances (up 1.68%) and 182.1 million drams to owners of other types of insurances (up 2.7 times).
At the same time, insurance premiums in the third quarter amounted to about 5.4 billion drams against 10.2 billion drams in the second quarter. Of that amount 2.2 billion were paid by owners of vehicles, down from 6.4 billion drams in the second quarter.
