YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. Private remittances sent to Armenia through banks in 2017 January surged by 34.9% from the year earlier to more than $84.3 million, according to the latest numbers, released by the Central Bank.
The amount of remittances sent from Armenia to other countries grew to $42.6 million from $42.5 million in January 2016 (an increase of 0.3%). The net inflow of remittances in 2017 January amounted to about $41.6 million against $19.9 million in January 2016 (an increase of 2 times).
The amount of remittances from Russia in January 2017 increased by 34.5% from 2016 January. The amount of remittances from Armenia fell by 7% to $16.6 million.
