World Bank expects Armenia’s GDP to grow by 4.5% in 2011

YEREVAN, October 26. / ARKA /. The World Bank expects Armenia’s GDP to grow by 4.5% in 2011, World Bank Country Manager for Armenia, Jean-Michel Happi, said to a news conference today. According to him, the forecast for the next year next is 4-5%. Mr. Happi said the World Bank’s projection for global GDP growth is 2.4-2.8%, but the debt crisis may reduce the degree of confidence and result in slowing economic growth.
The World Bank said in its June 2011 edition of Global Economic Prospects that Armenia’s GDP is expected to grow by 4.6% in 2011 and drop to 4.3% in 2012 and to 4.2% in 2013. According to the latest official data of Armenian government, the economy expanded by 5 percent in the first nine months of 2011. The full-year growth projection of the government is 4.6%. -0-
