Armenia's state debt indicators continue to improve - Finance Minister

YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. The indicators of Armenian government’s domestic debt and of the state debt calculated in AMD continue to improve, the degree of state debt management is at the target level, Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan said on Monday, presenting the report on the execution of the state budget for the first half of 2023 at a session of the  National Assembly Committee on Finance and Budget Issues.

According to the minister, Armenia's state debt as of June 30, 2023 amounted to 4 trillion 289 billion drams; in USD it stood at $11 bln.103 million.

‘In AMD terms, the state debt increased by 2.5% in the first half of 2023, and in US dollar  by 4.4%," Hovhannisyan said.

Touching upon the budget indicators, the minister  reminded that according to the adjusted program of the government designed for the first half of the year, the revenues were projected  at the level of 1 trillion 104 billion drams, and expenditures  at 1 trillion 230 billion drams. At the same time, the deficit was projected at AMD 125 billion.

"Compared to January-June last year, in 2023 we managed to record an increase in state budget expenditures both in terms of current and capital expenditures. In fact, in the first half of 2023, we managed to secure revenues of 1 trillion 160 billion drams, and a spending of  1 trillion 26 billion drams. Thus, the surplus amounted to 134 billion drams," the Finance Minister said. -0-
