YEREVAN, March 23. /ARKA/. Introducing a single Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) currency will require a long period of time, some ten to fifteen years, head of the Union of Banks of Armenia Samvel Chzmachyan said in his interview to ARKA.
On March 10, Russia’s president Vladimir Putin instructed the Bank of Russia to consider the possibility of setting a currency union within the EEU, together with the central banks of the member states (Belarus, Kazakhstan and Armenia).
According to Chzmachyan, out of 28 EU countries only 18 use euro, the rest continue their way with local currencies.
Introduction of a single currency is not an easy process and implies solutions are found to a number of political, economic, financial and other issues, Chzmachyan said. –0--
