Central Bank of Armenia raises refinancing rate by 0.25 percentage points to 7.25%

YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. The Central Bank of Armenia has decided today to raise the refinancing rate by 0.25 percentage points, setting it at 7.25%.
The press service of the regulator said also that the rate of the Lombard repo provided by the Central Bank was 8.75%, and the rate on funds attracted by the Central Bank from other banks was 5.75%.
The Central Bank had already raised the refinancing rate by 0.5 percentage points on August 3 to 7%. The latest rise is another attempt to curb inflation in the country that remains well above the 4 percent target set by the government and the Central Bank for 2021.
According to the National Statistical Committee, consumer prices in Armenia in January-July 2021 grew by 6.1% compared to the same period in 2020. Consumer prices in July 2021 increased by 8.2% compared to July 2020, and decreased by 1.5% compared to June 2021.-0-
