YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. Private remittances sent to Armenia from abroad through the banks exceeded $3.3 billion in January-July 2023, up from $2.4 billion, sent in the same time span in 2022, according to a Central Bank of Armenia report.
In January 2023, cross-border money transfers to Armenia from abroad amounted to $386.1 million ($127.9 million in January 2022), in February $713.9 million were sent ($180.1 million in February last year), and in March - $482.4 million were sent. ($252.6 million were sent in March 2022), $462.6 million were sent in April ($299.5 million in April a year earlier), $435.4 million in May ($412.1 in 2022 May), $444.6 million in June ($567.7 in June 2022), and $377.3 million in July ($432.3 million in July 2022).
Money transfers from the Russian Federation in January-July of this year amounted to $2.4 billion against $1.6 billion sent in the same period last year, increasing 1.5 times.
Money transfers from the U.S. decreased to $367.2 million from $375.4 million sent in January-July last year.
At the same time, the money transfers sent by individuals from Armenia to foreign countries through the banks amounted to $2.3 billion in the first 7 months of this year, compared to $1.3 billion in the same period last year.
In January 2023, money transfers from Armenia abroad amounted to $215.9 million ($87.4 million in January 2022), in February – to $381.8 million ($124 million in February last year), and in March – to $431.6 million ($158.9 million. in March 2022).
Some $296.1 million were sent in April ($132.9 million in April a year earlier), $387.9 million in May ($143 million in 2022 May), $314.2 million in June ($229.8 million in June 2022), and nearly $244 million in July ($432.3 million in July 2022).
Money transfers from Armenia to the Russian Federation in January-July of this year totaled $396.1 million, compared to $225.8 million in the same period last year, and money transfers from Armenia to the United States totaled $253 million, compared to $149 million.
Thus, net inflows in the seven months totaled $1 billion, compared to $1.1 billion in January-July 2022. -0-
