YEREVAN, September 14. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will develop a scheme to help citizens who owe large debts to banks get out of debt.   

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told a government meeting on Thursday that some 300,000 people in the country working in the shadow sector cannot enter the legal net because of wage arrestment.

"Firstly, the schme will not apply to those who have been in this situation for the last 3 years because that would be a wrong message in terms of fulfilling bank obligations. We will try to help these people through new collection mechanisms, which will be such that the citizen, having weighed the situation, would come to the conclusion that it is more profitable to repay bank debts," he said.  

Prime Minister noted that a decision on this issue would be taken by the end of the year.  Labor and Social Affairs Minister Narek Mkrtchyan noted that the scheme will affect the citizens whose debts range from 100 thousand to 1 million drams. There are about 204 thousand such people and about 85% of them are not officially employed. ($1 - 386.23 drams). --0--
