Armenia to extend program of preferential mortgage for families with children 

YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has decided to extend until 2026, including 2024, the program of preferential mortgage lending for families with children, which was in effect in 2020-2023.  

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs David Khachatryan said that 9,464 families have become beneficiaries of the program during tat period  and were paid AMD 6 billion 668 million were paid to them as subsidy.

The program consists of three components.  The first component envisages that families with two children will be given a prepayment of 10% of the housing cost, but not more than AMD 1 million, when buying a house by mortgage or building a house in the regions.

At the birth of each subsequent child another 5% of the housing cost will be paid, but not more than 500 thousand drams. The total amount of assistance under the first component cannot exceed 2 million drams. 

The second component assumes that the assistance will be provided to the family, which is already paying off the mortgage loan and in which a child is born, if the cost of the purchased housing does not exceed 35 million drams. The threshold value of housing will be increased by 5 million drams upon the birth of the third and subsequent children.

The amount of assistance will be 10% of the remaining loan amount, but not more than 500 thousand drams, 5% in Yerevan, but not more than 500 thousand drams.

In case of birth of the third and subsequent children - 50%, but not more than 2 million drams, and 25% in Yerevan.

In case of buying an apartment or a house in border settlements or where the government is building new schools and kindergartens, the amount of aid increases by 50%. ($1 - 402.9 drams) -0-
