YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/.  The project designed to build the Sisian-Kajaran section within the framework of the 4th Tranche of the North-South Interstate Highway was discussed with a delegation of the European Investment Bank (EIB) at the Armenian Road Department.

Karen Badalyan, Deputy Director of the Department and Artur Sanoyan, Project Manager,  presented the technical, environmental, social components of the project, its estimated cost and other aspects of the project to the EIB representatives.

The possibilities of co-financing the project together with the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development were also discussed with the EIB representatives.

The members of the EIB mission, accompanied by representatives of the Road Department, also visited Syunik region to familiarize themselves with the route of the 60 km long road under construction.

It was reported earlier that the cost of this project is estimated at 487 billion drams (over $1.25 billion at the current exchange rate). Some 27 bridges with a length of about 4.7 km and 5 tunnels with a length of more than 12 km (one of which is 8.6 km) are to be built on the 60-km section of the Sisian-Kajaran road. The estimated speed of traffic on this road, according to the program, will be 100 km/h.-0-
