YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. The Armenia-made MetaGait device restores mobility to people with disabilities by simulating walking.

The rehabilitation device with virtual reality goggles and a specially developed program transports the patient into different walking environments.

The device was created by QaylTech, a team of professionals in various disciplines - kinesiologists, neurologists, rehabilitation specialists, physicians, engineers, programmers, 3D modeling and virtual reality specialists to help people with disabilities restore their mobility.

The MetaGait device is an improved version of the company's previous product, which was called Gait.

Qayltech is one of the winners of the Stepan Gishyan Foundation's annual grant competition program. One of the MetaGait devices was purchased with the support of the foundation for the laboratory of the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports of Armenia, where scientific research will be conducted.

"The program is related not only to the health care, but also to scientific and educational spheres. Here teachers and students use MetaGait device as an experimental research tool, with the help of which they should develop a methodology, which in the future will allow to carry out more effective rehabilitation therapy," said Anna Gishyan, the director of Stepan Gishyan Charitable Foundation.

Founder of Qayltech David Arsenyan noted that MetaGait is patented in 157 countries and is considered to be an innovation. With MetaGait, people with musculoskeletal problems, appearing in different conditions, walk and see their gait.

"We're doing a scientific study right now, looking at brain changes. Usually the motor centers of the brain, not receiving information, begin to degenerate. We are sending information from the visual to the brain. As a result of the study, we will see what positive changes take place," says Arsenyan.

‘We also launched MetaGait, an app for remote rehabilitation treatment, which shows patients' scores and the dynamics of rehabilitation, helping organize the methodology and treatment process more effectively,’ he said.

The Stepan Gishyan Charitable Foundation was established by Acba Bank, French Credit Agricole, the National Federation of Credit Agricole, and the Gishyan family. The programs of the foundation are aimed at strengthening the Armenian-French relations, improving the social-economic, scientific-educational, cultural and medical systems of Armenia.
